Default My beautiful Esmeralda, the jewel of my collection

This is Esmeralda, the "jewel" of my collection. She is absolutely the sweetest snake anyone could ever ask for. When I come in the room she will wake up and stick her head out towards the door and "ask" to come out. She loves perching on my shoulders and just chilling. She's so very curious and amazes everyone who comes to visit. To be fair, I did not tame her. I have had her a year now and got her from Herpterra. She came to me tame and friendly, and what's even more amazing is that apparently she was a WC hatchling!

I know that I will never have another snake, let alone another emerald, like her. I love her to death. She eats well, sheds perfectly, has never had any illnesses, she's just the perfect little girl.

Thanks guys! She loves the camera. I had a photography student come photograph most of my snakes for her portfolio the other night, so when she gets the digital cd for me, I'll have to post more. Esmeralda was really showing off for the camera..lol. I'd swear she knows she's beautiful and loves to show off! She's just so sweet- I trust her more than I trust my ball pythons and corn snakes!

Esmeralda is an emerald tree boa, Corallus caninus. The emeralds have a longer, more dog-like face than the green tree python Morelia viridis. Also, GTPs have their heat-sensing pits concentrated in vertical slits in the front of the snout, while ETBs have them evenly spaced along the entire lip. The GTP pits are within scales, while the ETB pits are between scales. Here are a few pictures of Archimedes, my male Biak green tree python, for comparison:

He is also very very tame.

Kim your photography is just as nice as your snakes.
